Dr Close (1)

Dr. Jennifer E. Close Veterinarian-Owner

Dr. Close was born and raised in Orlando. In fact, her family has taken their pets to Ocoee Animal Hospital since she was a young girl. After attaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, Dr. Close worked as an engineer in Texas for several years before deciding to pursue her true passion of working with animals. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida in May 2011.  She is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Florida Veterinary Medical Association (FVMA), and the Central Florida Veterinary Medical Association (CFVMA).

Dr. Close was inspired to become a veterinarian by her heart dog, Doogan.  She rescued Doogan from a shelter in Texas in 2005 while still working as an engineer and found a true calling for veterinary medicine while nursing him back to health after adopting him.  Doogan was Dr. Close's greatest teacher in behavior medicine and helping senior pets enjoy their best quality of life for as long as possible.  Though Doogan crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2020, he continues to inspire Dr. Close everyday to help her patients lead healthy and happy lives.

Dr. Close loves all things Florida Gators, especially Gator Football.  She enjoys gardening, working out, spending time at the beach, traveling, and relaxing with friends and family.

Tessa Veterinary Technician

Tessa began her veterinary career as a kennel technician. She also did pet relocations and grooming. She then moved on to become an assistant manager, then a receptionist, and then a vet tech—and she’s remained a vet tech ever since. She relocated from Michigan to Orlando, FL to gain new experiences.

Tessa derives great joy from helping families and their beloved pets. To her, there is nothing better than helping a pet live their life to the fullest. She loves creating lasting bonds with people and their animal companions.

Tessa has 2 cats, Brains and Revvie, and a bearded dragon named Orion Adonis. She likes to spend her free time learning new things about space (and keeping up with NASA and SpaceX), being outside, going to drag races, and admiring classic cars.
